The food at The Lunar New Year Festival at California Adventure

We recently visited Disneyland and DCA during the Lunar New Year celebration. There was a lot of yummy food!! We purchased the sip and savor pass which allowed us to try 6 different items from the festival. You can also just purchase each item individually, but the pass does save you some money (if you choose the items wisely). The sip and savor pass was $39 and each item ranged from $5-8. Here’s the list of all of the food we ate at the festival, ranked from worst to best (although none of the food was terrible).

6. Mickey Chinese Hot Dog Bun

This hot dog bun is good, but there’s nothing really special about it. It’s exactly what it’s called, a hot dog in a bun.

5. Pan-Fried Wheat Noodles

The pan-fried wheat noodles comes with chicken meatballs, cabbage salad and an apple-ginger sauce. The noodles are good but the meatballs were just ok.

4. Char Siu Pork Bao

This is Chinese BBQ pork with pickled red onions and jalapeno in a bao bun. This was really yummy! The BBQ pork was a little sweet and the picked onions are of course sour, so the sweet and sour really complimented each other! I would definitely get this again!

3. Crispy Shrimp Fried Rice

This delicious shrimp fried rice is made with garlic, bacon and edamame. This was definitely a win! The shrimp was pretty big and had a very light batter on them, which I like very much, because you could really taste the shrimp! The combination of shrimp, garlic and bacon worked so perfectly with each other and it was seasoned perfectly!

2. Steamed Short Rib Shumai

This shumai comes with a spicy Korean sauce, sriracha-mayonnaise and cucumber salad. This was the first item that I tried from the festival and I was immediately blown away! All of the different flavors burst in my mouth and it was a party in there! And the heat hits you at the end! So good!!

1. Mango-Pineapple Pastry

This was my absolute favorite item that I tried at the festival! I love desserts so I was super happy to see this on the menu. It’s a cute little mango-pineapple turnover with a mickey on top. It’s not too sweet and it’s nice and flaky. Perfect!

So those were the six items that we tried this year at the Lunar New Year festival at DCA. Let me know if you’ve tried any of the items and which ones were your fave! Hopefully we can go again in the future and try more yummy food!
